Amaechi’s role in the President Muhammadu Buhari and APC victory at the presidential poll, including his protracted faceoff and defiance of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan (as both men are from the Niger Delta) is the albatross on
Saraki’s neck – which might affect Amaechi’s confirmation as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. That is the first dilemma of Senate President Bukola Saraki (photo).
The PDP Senate caucus held a meeting where they took a position against the confirmation of ex-Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi. The PDP senators resolved not to consider Amaechi’s nomination unless the report of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges on the petitions filed against the former Rivers State governor was brought forward for consideration first – on the floor of the red chamber.
Consequent on this development, Senate President Bukola Saraki is in a dilemma as PDP senators vowed to withdraw support for him if ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi is confirmed by the senate.
Will Amaechi be confirmed as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?
