Orlando Gay Nightclub shooting: Trump blasted Clinton & Obama

Presumptive Republican nominee, also, billionaire businessman, Donald Trump, blasted both President Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton for not immediately calling Sunday morning’s mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando an act of “radical Islam.” Trump called on Obama to step down from office and for Clinton to exit the presidential race . . .

In a Monday morning CBS interview, he said Clinton won’t use the term because she’s afraid of Obama’s Justice Department. “She’s afraid to offend her boss because she doesn’t want to go jail,” Trump asserted, an apparent reference to Clinton’s use of a private email server while at the State Department.

Trump said Monday morning that attacks like the one that left 50 people dead in a gay nightclub in Orlando this weekend will continue to happen “many times over” if President Obama doesn’t start calling it “radical Islamic terrorism.” “Believe me, all I want is safety, I want safety for this country,” Trump told “CBS This Morning” in a phone interview.

“What happened yesterday will happen many times over with a president like Obama that doesn’t even want to use the term ‘radical Islamic terrorism.'” He again hit Mr. Obama and Hillary Clinton for not using the term, which Trump said on Twitter Sunday should be cause for Mr. Obama to resign and Clinton to drop out of the presidential race.

Both Clinton and Obama called the attack an act of terror and hate but stopped short of connecting it to “radical Islam” in their initial statements. Authorities have said the attacker declared his allegiance to ISIS when he started shooting, but it’s unclear if he’d had any contact with the group or if they helped him plan the attack.

Trump suggested Monday that President Obama is oblivious to issues of terrorism—and he seemed to suggest in the process that Obama might sympathize with the suspected gunman in the deadly Orlando nightclub shooting.

“Look, we’re led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he’s got something else in mind,” Trump said. “People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can’t even mention the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’ There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable. There’s something going on.”

Trump was referring to Obama’s refusal to utter the words “radical Islamic terrorism,” a term Obama has argued in the past elevates groups like ISIS as religious groups instead of terrorist groups, while playing into the hands of people who want to paint the U.S. as at war with Islam as a whole. In a tweet sent out Sunday, Donald Trump said the president should “immediately resign in disgrace” if he does not say the words.

Trump has called for a ban on Muslim immigration to the United States, suggesting that such a ban could have prevented this weekend’s attack. However, the attacker, identified as Omar Mateen, was born in the U.S. and was an American citizen.

Clinton argued on CNN that Trump’s approach to the terrorism issue would undermine U.S. security.

“What I won’t do, because I think it is dangerous for our efforts to defeat this threat, is to demonize and demagogue and declare war on an entire religion,” she said. “That plays right into ISIS’ hands.” Trump hits Obama and Clinton in a stinging tweet, below:

I have been hitting Obama and Crooked Hillary hard on not using the term Radical Islamic Terror. Hillary just broke-said she would now use!
