U.S. SUPREME COURT JUDGE CALLS TRUMP ‘FAKER’ & APOLOGIZES

An 83-year-old U.S. Supreme Court Justice shocked the American political establishment with her recent remarks which many watchers and pundits termed unethical conduct . . .

On Monday she called the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and billionaire business mogul, Donald Trump, “a faker” who “says whatever comes into his head at the moment.”

U.S. Associate Justice Ruth Joan Bader Ginsburg told The New York Times in an interview published last weekend that she “can’t imagine” what the United States under Donald Trump as President of the United States would be like. Retracting later from her uncouth vituperation, Justice Ginsburg issued a statement Thursday saying she was sorry.

“On reflection, my recent remarks in response to press inquiries were ill-advised and I regret making them,” Ginsburg said.

“Judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future I will be more circumspect,” she added.

In response to the criticism, Trump suggested the judge was getting senile and should step down.

“Justice Ginsburg of the US Supreme Court has embarrassed all by making very dumb political statements about me. Her mind is shot – resign!” Trump tweeted.

Ginsburg drew widespread ire from Republicans for breaking with a code of conduct under which US judges are not supposed to publicly endorse or oppose a candidate for office.

The Washington Post and The New York Times both ran editorials saying she had erred in publicly criticizing Donald Trump.

One response to “U.S. SUPREME COURT JUDGE CALLS TRUMP ‘FAKER’ & APOLOGIZES

  1. She has a right to an opinion, and people make mistakes in terms of public pronouncements. She apologized for the action as being imprudent. There’s no law against Supreme Court judges expressing their political preferences. It isn’t unique historically. Scalia put his political opinions into his actual written decisions hundreds of times, without naming names, but still obviously.
