Is The CNN “Fake News” Label Sticking?

CNN Is Jittery About Its Coverage Of The Trump-Russia Investigation

CNN’s announcement of new publishing restrictions on articles and news reports about President Donald Trump and Russia, as reported by Buzzfeed, has delighted the right-wing media in America, according to a report by Newsweek’s Tom Porter . . .

The ultra-conservative website, Breitbart, reported that the “very fake news scandal” was consuming the Cable News Network (CNN). Fox News host Sean Hannity taunted CNN’s Jeff Zucker on Twitter:

Hey @CNN when will you fire Zucker? He has destroyed the network with lies and VERY FAKE NEWS.

Hey when will you fire Zucker? He has destroyed the network with lies and VERY FAKE NEWS.

Replying to @seanhannity @CNN, Gary DeWater @openwheel posted on twitter:

CNN is trying to destroy America, their hidden agenda is pure evil, there lies are now infamous. Why in the world would anyone watch them.

CNN has long been accused of liberal bias by critics and has been one of the key focuses of President Donald Trump’s relentless rhetorical assaults against what he has branded the “Fake News” media.

Trump criticized CNN a lot during his 2016 presidential run to the White House. On his political movements, stops and campaign trails, Trump railed at CNN to no end. On Donald Trump’s assumption of the US Presidency, White House press secretary Sean Spicer accused CNN of spreading unsubstantiated rumors in a bid to attract viewers. In his first press conference as the US President, Donald Trump shouted down CNN’s White House reporter, Jim Acosta, after denouncing the news network as “Fake News” from the podium.

Almost a month after Trump got into the White House CNN was one of media organizations denied access to an off-camera press briefing with Sean Spicer. A pro-Trump Political Action Committee (PAC) tried to run an ad on CNN in which the words “fake news” were superimposed on an image of network anchors.

Tom Porter opines that another factor in CNN’s nervousness is likely to be the declining faith in traditional news outlets, with a September 2016 Gallup poll finding that confidence in mass media to “report the news fully, accurately and fairly” had dropped to the lowest level recorded by the pollster, with only 32% of Americans saying the media had their trust.

In such an environment, according to Porter, it is hardly surprising that CNN is taking care to make sure the “fake news” label does not stick, and tightening its coverage of Trump’s alleged Russia ties, where key devel0pments have been leaked to media by officials on condition of anonymity.

CNN’s retracted story, which alleged that the Senate Intelligence Committee was probing claims that the chief of a $10 billion Russian investment fund had met with a member of Trump’s transition team days before the president’s inauguration, was based on a single unnamed source.

Presently, news stories and reports involving President Donald Trump and Russia (ie Trump-Russia Hacking Investigation) now require the approval of senior CNN executives before publication. The network is aiming to bolster its credibility in the face of unprecedented White House attacks and rising public skepticism about its integrity.

Recently, the Republican Karen Handel won the heated Georgia 6th Congressional District special election, (the most expensive congressional election in American history). CNN had touted the small district’s election as a referendum on President Donald Trump – in their quest to deride and pull down Donald Trump. CNN expected the democrat Jon Osoff to easily beat Handel because of CNN’s perception that Trump’s popularity and appeal was spiraling downwards (‘fake news’).

I was perplexed! Nevertheless, the Trump referendum came and Trump won the CNN-inflicted referendum. The faces of the four CNN’s so-called political experts and analysts bear witness to CNN’s hatred of Donald Trump, simply because the great man had beaten CNN’s candidate, Hilary Clinton, and ridden to the White House. Well, see the sad faces of the four CNN Musketeers as CNN reluctantly called the election in Handel’s favor.

Please, see the screenshot of pouting CNN anchors, as their very sad faces go viral after Handel defeats Osoff, below:

CNN . President, Jeff Zucker

In my honest opinion, the credibility and trust that CNN had garnered since its founding has been eroded over the years – more so, since Jeffrey Adam “Jeff” Zucker took over at CNN as President of the CNN Worldwide after previously serving as president and CEO of NBC Universal.

Zucker oversees CNN, CNN International, HLN, and CNN Digital, and that’s a hell lot of media conglomerate to waste, as CNN’s integrity and worldwide/international appeal wanes with alacrity.

Short BIO: CNN

The Cable News Network (CNN) is an American cable and satellite television news network channel owned by the Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) division of Time Warner. CNN was founded in 1980 by the creative American media mogul and proprietor, Ted Turner, as a 24-hour cable news channel. Upon its launch, CNN was the first television channel to provide 24-hour news coverage in the world, and was also the very first all-news television channel in the United States of America.

CNN blazed the world’s 24/7 cable news firmament and became famous instantly after the unprecedented, unbelievable, excellent and spontaneous coverage of the first Gulf War, real time. For the first time ever, citizens of the world watched a modern war fought with the latest in war machinery and arsenals (land, sea and air) unfold on their television screens, from the comfort of their living rooms, real time.

CNN’s Messy Scandalous Story

According to the Washington Post, three CNN journalists resigned amidst the fallout from a retracted story that alleged that the head of a $10 billion Russian investment fund had met with a member of President Donald Trump’s transition team days before his inauguration at the US Congress building on Capitol Hill.

Thomas Frank, who wrote the story, Eric Lichtblau, an editor in the CNN Investigation unit and Lex Haris, the head of the unit, all resigned on Monday after the story—which was based on a single anonymous source—was retracted on Friday.

The story had claimed the Senate Intelligence Committee was investigating the Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), a Russian organization, after its chief executive Kirill Dmitriev met with a “member of President Donald Trump’s transition team four days before inauguration.”

According to Newsweek’s CONOR GAFFEY, the official was Anthony Scaramucci, a Wall Street entrepreneur who was eventually overlooked for a position in Trump’s White House. Scaramucci did meet with Dmitriev in the Swiss resort of Davos in January, but refuted the CNN story.

Gaffey also reported that the CNN report also said that the probe into Scaramucci’s meeting was linked to the alleged meeting between Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and a senior adviser, and the chief executive of Russia’s state bank, Vnesheconombank, Sergey Gorkov.

It’s ok. I did nothing wrong. They like hitting friends of @potus who are loyal advocates on his behalf.

In its retraction on Friday, CNN said that the story “did not meet CNN’s editorial standards and has been retracted” and issued an apology to Scaramucci, which he accepted.

If CNN doesn’t take time with this White House, President Donald Trump will destroy the cable and satellite television network. Right now, Donald Trump is the most powerful man on the face of the earth. Trump has the bully pulpit of the US Presidency. It appears that CNN may have either ignored this fact (not ‘fake news’) or the network is plain stupid, or both. It will be so sad to see the CNN end in this way. Is the CNN a “fake news” network, according to Donald Trump? I think so!

When Donald Trump hosted ‘The Apprentice’, the reality show’s opening theme song was and is still “For the Love of Money” by The O’Jays. CNN probably took a cue from Donald Trump in Jeff Zucker’s “For the love of more CNN viewers” through and by spreading unsubstantiated rumors in a bid to attract viewers for the CNN. At the rate CNN is going, the “fake news” label might stick.

CNN . FNN . Fke News Network

If CNN must return to the ideals of its legendary founder, Robert Edward “Ted” Turner III, when the great American visionary pioneered and founded the trailblazer, CNN, in 1980, then the CNN worldwide president, Jeff Zucker, must be done away with – as Donald Trump was wont to say in his heydays as a celebrity host of ‘The Apprentice’ – “You’re fired!”
